I'm never really in this part of Steveston (although, I should visit more because this area is SO cute), but I was in the area for a meeting and popped into Ora to grab a late lunch.

I was welcomed with big smiles and three cheerful "hellos" upon walking in. There weren't many people in the restaurant, so I was able to pick where I wanted to sit.

They have a diverse menu of rolls, nigiri, teriyaki's, donburi bowls, bento boxes and more. I decided to get the crunchy roll (prawn tempura, cucumber, avocado, tempura flakes and spicy mayo) and the prawn and yam tempura appetizer. Both dishes came out within 5 minutes, no joke. I even exclaimed "Wow! That was so quick!" The crunchy roll was yummy and came topped with a mountain of tempura flakes, which I loved. The yam and prawn tempura was fresh and yummy but the prawn tempura itself was quite smaller in comparison to other restaurants.

While I was sitting, there were plenty of people coming in for take out and a few local regulars who knew exactly what I wanted, so this seems like the go to sushi spot in the area.

I'd definitely come back again if I'm in the area.

I read reviews here and mentioned the service was not that good... not really.. they are fast and friendly. Maybe we ordered a lot. It look like run by Japanese ladies, with Asian servers. I saw Japanese ladies cashier, at kitchen and sushi maker.

We had reservation at 7:30pm.. they gave us table right away with my name on their note. We got nice window seats with a lot of flowers around us.

    We ordered:

1 bottle of large kirin to start... then slowly look through the menu. Their menu look like mega sushi to us.

    Then we ordered:

Prawn tempura... its pretty hot, crispy, fresh and natural sweet from the prawns... we like this one..

Grilled Saba... skin not crispy enough.. tasteless .. I didn't eat it after 2 bites.. my hubby finished for me...

Special salmon belly sushi... big piece of salmon tataki on top of rice, but not tasty as mega

Toro sushi... it's so fresh and cheap... we ordered 2 pcs first then ordered 6 pcs more

    Saba sushi... tiny pcs... soso

Tobiko sushi... they gave us red color , not orange color one..

Japanese manager suddenly came out and served us with big smile, even not busy.. I found out next few tables from us.. didn't order that much food , like us... LOL

Uni nigiri sushi... so fishy , not fresh, no wonder so cheap?! $4.50 each..I had already told my hubby.. it's not season anymore.. but he still ordered it..

Hamachi toro sushi... so good and fresh.. we totally ordered 6 pcs

    1 more large kirin...

Unagi sushi... too lean... dried... falling apart

Oysters tempura... so tiny.. exactly like mega

Spicy chicken karaage.... batter was too thick, not much meat inside... I ate one piece and didn't touch it... just pack to go..

I paid... $154.85 + 18% tips... for 2 of us... not bad.. worth to try..

Will go there again for sushi and sashimi, but not cook food

Not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars on Yelp, but I think it deserves more! The sushi is good, as well as their service. Lots of people also ordering take-out, so you know they're a good place as they're busy with both the dining room and take-out orders. Comebackable place for sure!

With so many sushi restaurants in the Lower Mainland, it's hard to choose. This was our second time eating at ORA and won't be our last. Quick service even though it was quite busy, very nice quality wild salmon - tempura roll & spicy tuna roll were very good and I like that there's only a small amount of rice used in the rolls...& reasonably priced..great location in Steveston, lots of parking and great area for a nice walk after a meal

It's hard to find a decently priced restaurant in Steveston when it's 4pm, simply because most of them open for dinner from 5pm onwards. Luckily Ora was open and I managed to get some food in me. I got an Ora dinner bento ($19) because I wanted to sample a bit of everything.

The ebi sunomono was deliciously refreshing. When the rest of the bento arrived, I decided to prioritize eating the hot food first as I find in general it doesn't do well over time.

The tempura was fried well with a nice layer of crisp around it. It wasn't at all excessively oily. I found that the 2pc ebi and 2pc veggies they offered were a good amount to get my tempura fix.

The 3pc of gyoza was cooked well too bring slightly crispy on the outside. Nothing too exciting about them.

I chose chicken teriyaki as my protein choice and it was acceptable. The sauce was good but the chicken was a bit funny at times. There were parts where I had to eat around as it would be too hard to eat it otherwise.

I tried some salad but immediately gave up on it as it didn't have any dressing.

The crunch roll was good considering it was a California roll with ebi, tempura crunch, and sauces. I was pretty full at this point, but I enjoyed the taste.

They forgot my miso soup but it promptly came out when I asked for it. Well flavoured with lots of that miso taste.

Overall, I would go here again for some of their special rolls and a miso soup. The bento box was good for what I was getting but it was just too much for me to handle by myself.
